2020 – the year the world was hit by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The year global economies saw sharp declines, and our very way of living was changed beyond belief. According to a study by Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), domestic solar panel installations increased by 37% in May compared to April, and then jumped significantly in June by 185%. Many solar panel installation firms are seeing huge numbers of enquiries and many are recruiting for new staff to cope with the surge in demand.
At the start of September, the Department for Business , Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) announced that they would be extending the FiT scheme meaning that the deadline for new solar panel installations has been extended until 31st March 2021, another factor that will no doubt see the number of domestic solar panel installations increase.
